Bring Sally Up

STANDARD Intermediate 4 min

ChestCore

The pushup challenge: hold a pushup and move on the 'up' and 'down' cues through the whole song. This version counts your pushups.

A viral challenge set to Moby's 'Flower' — up on 'Bring Sally up', down on 'Bring Sally down'. Brutal for something under four minutes.

How the challenge works

The challenge follows Moby's song 'Flower': you drop to the bottom of a push-up on every 'Bring Sally down' and press to lockout on every 'Bring Sally up,' holding each position until the next cue. It runs about three and a half minutes and roughly 40 reps — but it's the isometric holds between reps, not the reps themselves, that wreck your chest and shoulders.

How the camera counts it

MyRepsCount counts a rep each time you press from the bottom to full lockout, so your job is to complete every single press even as the holds get brutal near the end. Keep a rigid plank the whole way — sagging hips are the first thing to break down. Set the phone side-on at floor level and it tracks the up-and-down cleanly without you touching it.

How to scale it

Can't make it through on your toes? Drop to your knees for the back half of the song rather than quitting — the goal is to keep pressing on every 'up,' not to be perfect. Want it harder? Add a second round, or deliberately slow your tempo so the holds last even longer and the burn compounds.
